This plastic figure kit in the large 1:16 scale from Miniart depicts a French cuirassier of the period of the Napoleonic Wars. The set holds one mounted figure together with a horse, a saddle, a cuirass, a helmet and an edged weapon. The large scale allows rich working up of the detail of the uniform and of the horse's tack.
Cuirassiers were the heavy cavalry of the French army, protected by a metal cuirass and a helmet. They were committed to decisive blows on the battlefield and ranked among the elite of the Napoleonic cavalry. The polished cuirass, the tall crested helmet and the long straight sword were characteristic.
Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and dry-fit them before gluing, especially the horse and the rider. The cuirass and the helmet will stand out with good metallic paints and polishing, and shading and fine washes will bring the uniform to life. The horse's coat is best built up in layers and finished with a dry brush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
