A large injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary German heavy tank Tiger I (Pz.Kpfw.VI Ausf.E, Sd.Kfz.181) from Trumpeter in the large 1:16 scale. It is a demanding project with more than a thousand parts, metal components (among them the pins of the track links) and copper cable. The large scale allows an exceptional level of detail.
The Tiger I was a German heavy tank fielded from 1942 as an answer to the Soviet T-34 and KV-1 tanks. It was the first tank in service with an 88 mm gun as its main armament and combined thick armor with devastating firepower. Despite its high cost, weight and demanding maintenance, it became one of the most feared and best-known tanks of the Second World War.
A large model calls for firm bonded joints and patience; finish and paint the running gear, the wheels and the tracks before the final assembly. The metal track pins allow a workable run. At a large scale smooth transitions of color come into their own, so an airbrush, color modulation, a fine wash into the detail and layered pigments on the lower hull and the tracks all pay off. Chipping along the edges adds to the realism.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
