Injection-molded plastic kit of the German light half-track carrier Sd.Kfz.250/1 Ausf.A in the large 1:16 scale from Das Werk. The large format makes it possible to render the whole interior in detail, as well as the engine with opening covers; the kit offers buildable running gear with torsion bar suspension, individual workable track links, photo-etched parts and a driver figure. It is a large and fairly demanding model for more experienced builders.
The Sd.Kfz.250 was a light half-track armored personnel carrier used by the German army in the Second World War. The Ausf.A version was distinguished by a complex faceted armored body welded from a larger number of plates; a simplified form came only with the Ausf.B version. In the 250/1 form the vehicle served to carry small infantry parties, for reconnaissance and as a signals vehicle, and it was used on most fronts. Thanks to its agility and small size it was typical equipment of armored and reconnaissance units.
Paint the interior, the engine and the running gear before you close the hull, so that the detail shows. Use liquid modeling cement on the plastic and glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply primer before painting and spray with an airbrush. German camouflage comes alive with emphasis on the panels and light weathering; mud and dust effects with washes and pigments give the vehicle a realistic battlefield look.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
