This injection-molded plastic kit in the striking large 1:16 scale from the brand Andy's Hobby Headquarters captures an American infantryman of the late Second World War period in the M1943 uniform. It is a single full-length figure with a high level of detail; the package also includes decals for the patches and the markings on the uniform. The large scale lets the detail of the clothing and the equipment stand out.
The M1943 uniform unified and modernized the field equipment of the US Army in the closing stages of the war and served on into the postwar period. An infantryman in it looks sturdy and modern, with its characteristic jacket, trousers with pockets and field boots. The large 1:16 scale makes the figure a display piece in its own right, on which both the face and the fabric can be worked out carefully.
Clean the flash off the parts and join them with a thin modeling cement for plastic. Apply a filler primer before painting; in a large scale the transitions and shadows of the fabric stand out, so it pays to paint in layers and to work with glazes. The face will reward fine gradation of the flesh tones, and the detail of the equipment will reward washes and drybrushing. Apply the decals onto a smoothly painted surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
