Injection-molded plastic kit of the famous Porsche 935 racing car in Martini Racing colors in 1:20 scale from Tamiya. It is a richly broken-down model with a faithfully rendered body, a well-developed interior and a detailed six-cylinder engine. A removable engine cover allows a comfortable view of the powerplant even after the build is finished. The slick tires are of synthetic rubber and the decal sheet faithfully captures the characteristic Martini livery.
The Porsche 935 was a Group 5 racing special built on the basis of the road-going 911 Turbo (930), but with a markedly reworked, aerodynamically extreme body with a flat front lid. It was powered by a rear-mounted turbocharged flat-six of about 2.9 liters. In its mid-1970s form the car in Martini colors won most of the races of that season and helped Porsche to the manufacturers' championship title. The white body with the blue and red Martini stripes is still one of the most iconic liveries in motorsport.
Clean the body carefully and spray primer before painting, so that the white covers well and the livery sits right. Spray the white area in thin coats; once it has dried, a gloss clear coat follows and only then the Martini decals; a final clear coat unifies the surface and hides the edges of the decals. Finish and paint the interior, the roll cage and the engine before you close the body. Keep the chrome and polished parts separate from painting. Fit the rubber tires at the very end so that they do not get dirty.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
