A set of waterslide decals for a model of the racing BMW 320 of the first generation in Group 5 specification, in 1:24 scale. It matches the car of a well known German racing stable from the 1981 season with its sponsor markings. These are markings on their own, not a kit.
Turbocharged Group 5 cars were among the most powerful circuit machines of all at the turn of the seventies and eighties. On the BMW 320, under the silhouette of a production coupe, there hid a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that reached outputs a production car would not have borne, and a chassis built purely for the circuit. The stables that built these cars made a name for themselves that lasted them through the whole following era of touring car racing.
Apply the decals over a gloss clear coat; on a matte surface a silvery veil will appear under them. Cut the sheet close to the motif so that no visible border is left along the edge. Dip a decal in water for only a few seconds and let it release on the backing paper; do not pull it with tweezers. Lay large areas of markings from the center toward the edges and squeeze the water out with a soft cloth. On edges and recessed detail use decal softener and press the film down with a cotton swab. Once dry, give the model a clear coat so that the edges blend into the surface.
