An injection-molded plastic kit of the Mazda Savanna RX-7 sports coupe in 1:24 scale from Tamiya's Sports Car Series. The model faithfully captures the clean wedge lines of the first-generation RX-7 and offers a well worked-out chassis, suspension and interior. The body is molded in white plastic, and the box holds decals with period emblems and logos, synthetic rubber tires and masks for spraying the windows. A driver figure is included as well. It is an updated release of a proven tooling that Tamiya has long counted among its popular car kits.
The Mazda Savanna RX-7 (type SA22C) was introduced in 1978 as a light rear-wheel-drive car powered by a two-rotor Wankel engine. The compact unit, mounted behind the front axle, gave the car a favorable weight distribution and, together with the pop-up headlights and the low nose, defined its unmistakable look. The rotary engine offered smooth running and high revolutions, which made the RX-7 a symbol of Japanese sports cars at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s, and it also raced successfully in motor sport.
Join the parts with thin cement for plastic, sand down the mold parting lines on the body and apply a filler primer before painting. The gloss shades of the body come out best after a clear gloss coat and polishing. We recommend finishing the chrome details and the interior by hand with a brush, and gluing the glazing with glue for clear parts so that it does not go cloudy. The enclosed masks make it easier to frame the windows crisply.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
