A decal sheet for the Messerschmitt Bf 109E-3 in the large 1:24 scale, with three documented machines from 1939 and 1940 and with a mask for the canopy glazing included.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109E, which German crews nicknamed Emil, formed the backbone of the Luftwaffe fighter units in 1940. The E-3 version was given the Daimler-Benz DB 601Aa engine with direct fuel injection, a pair of MG 17 machine guns above the engine cowling and two 20 mm MG FF cannon built into the wing. It was in this form that the aircraft went through the campaign in France and flew its first hundreds of hours over the English Channel.
The sheet covers three particular machines. A white 1 belonged to 1./JG 2 and was flown in May 1940 by Oblt Otto Bertram. The second option stands for an aircraft of 1./JG 3 associated with the name of Lt Hans Hahn, from September 1939. The third choice is a yellow 1 of 6./JG 51, given with Belgium and October 1940 and with the name of Oblt Josef Priller, later the commander of JG 26.
It pays to give the surface under the markings a coat of gloss clear varnish first, so that no air is trapped under the film. Let the cut-out marking release from its backing in lukewarm water, move it into place and squeeze the excess moisture out with a soft cloth. A decal softener will then help the film settle over rivet lines and panel lines. This delivery does not include plastic parts or paints.
