The Ukrainian brand MiniArt puts six drums with surface texture in the package and adds a decal sheet with markings. Hundred-liter plastic drums turn up today at workshops, warehouses, farms and military posts alike, so they suit both civilian and military scenes.
Plastic drums look best with a saturated base and a light sheen - dust and grime then settle mainly into the ribs and around the lid. Suggest the transitions of faded plastic with a thin filter rather than with harsh drybrushing. Apply the markings onto a gloss surface and seal them with a matte overcoat. If you lean one drum against a wall and lay another on its side, the scene gains depth. Suggest handprints and traces of lifting with a darker shade around the rim, where the grime collects most.
Builders of dioramas will appreciate it, as will collectors of large automotive scales and modelers looking for credible surroundings for a finished vehicle. The 1:24 scale suits cars and tractors of ordinary size, and in military scenes it fits the larger scale groupings.
