Air intake covers for the A-6E Intruder, 1:32

An accessory set of air intake covers for a model of the American A-6E carrier bomber in 1:32. It is not a model of the aircraft but an accessory. On the real aircraft the covers are always fitted when the machine stands on the deck or on the apron, so that no foreign object flies into the engine. On a model they therefore make sense wherever the aircraft is shown parked, and they neatly solve the empty intake duct as well.

Building and painting tips

Cut the parts off the casting blocks with a fine saw and sand the cut surface. Wash the resin in lukewarm water with detergent before painting, because of the mold release residue. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The covers are usually in a conspicuous color with lettering, so it pays to paint them separately and fit them at the end. Protect your airways when sanding resin.
