The Sidewinder is an infrared-guided short-range air-to-air missile. The AIM-9P version belongs among the later links of the series and appears on the machines of a number of users, so it is a rewarding accessory to models from a more recent period.
The package contains four missiles for models in 1:32 scale. The procedure for assembling one missile and the breakdown of the parts are given in the manufacturer's instructions; reckon on the thin surfaces calling for careful separation and precise seating.
The parts are not of polystyrene; they are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Cut off the excess material with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder level, so that the glued surface seats without a gap. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint holds badly on them. Glue the fins onto the body of the missile so that all four rounds correspond to each other; asymmetry is immediately apparent in a row of identical external stores. Paint the missiles away from the model and hang them only onto a finished build, and choose the color markings according to a photograph of the real subject.
The set is for modelers of large scales who want to fit their model with more conspicuous external stores than the kit offers and who will manage work with small parts. The model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
