Two EGBU-15 guided bombs with a penetrating warhead and an AN/AXQ-14 data link pod in 1:32 scale. A printed fit from Reskit for modern strike aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The EGBU-15 guided glide bomb joins the penetrating BLU-109 warhead with a guidance kit and with large lifting surfaces. So that the crew can steer it right up to the hit, the aircraft also needs the AN/AXQ-14 data link pod, which is likewise in the set. The package holds two bombs and one pod. The lifting surfaces are printed separately from the body of the weapon.
The BLU-109 warhead has a thick-walled steel body designed to pass through reinforced concrete and to explode only inside the structure. The letter E at the start of the designation says that the classic guidance was complemented by a satellite and inertial element, so the weapon hits the target even when the sky is overcast or the target is obscured by smoke. The combination was carried by types such as the F-15E, the F-111 or the F-4. Two-seat machines had the advantage that a second crew member could devote himself fully to guiding the weapon.
The lifting surfaces call for careful handling, because their roots are narrow; support them with a finger when removing the supports. Hang the pod on a different point from the bombs, otherwise the arrangement looks visually overcrowded. A light gray tone with dark bands matches the usual rendition. A drop of clear coat will set off the seeker window.
The set does not include an aircraft or anything for the build. It is supplied as printed armament to be added.
