A decal sheet in 1:32 with four finishes of the F6F-5 Hellcat carrier fighter from the fighting over the Pacific.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F6F-5 version closed the line of development that from the middle of 1943 took the main weight of the fighting over the Pacific on the decks of American carriers. Against the earlier -3 it was given smoother engine cowling, strengthened armor behind the pilot's back and pylons for rockets and bombs, so a pure fighter became a universal machine capable of attacking ground targets.
The first finish belongs to an aircraft with a white 25 of VF-19, flown by Bruce Williams from the carrier Lexington in a three-tone camouflage scheme. The second is the machine of the commander of carrier air group CAG 15, David McCampbell, from the carrier Essex, the most successful American naval fighter pilot of the war. The third carries the white 9 of Lieutenant Charles Stimpson of VF-11 from the carrier Hornet, and the fourth the number 71 of Lieutenant Leo McCuddin of VF-20 from the deck of the Enterprise.
This is a separate set of decals that the builder adds to a plastic kit of the matching type and scale. The carrier film is thin and once dry merges with the paint, so no visible step arises on the surface. The decals are separated motif by motif rather than in whole fields, and they are applied onto a smooth gloss base.
