A set of photo-etched parts for the landing gear of the Heinkel He 111 bomber in 1:32 scale. An accessory for a plastic kit, not a model, which replaces the simplified parts of the bays and the legs.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an aircraft kit but a set of photo-etched parts in thin sheet metal, which is put into a plastic model in place of parts simplified in shape. The target is the landing gear, that is the legs, the bays and their braces. For manufacturing reasons the plastic has thick walls and coarse relief in these places; photo-etched sheet can render the same thing in a thickness that matches the scale, so that the structure looks wiry and open the way it does on the real machine.
The parts are cut from the fret with a sharp knife on a hard surface, not with nippers. The bends are made in a bending tool or between two razor blades, always along the scored line. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) in a small amount, because ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on metal. Before painting, the sheet is degreased and given a primer, otherwise the paint comes away as soon as it is rubbed. Reckon with having to pare off some of the plastic parts.
The Heinkel He 111 was a German twin-engined bomber that came about in the nineteen thirties and lasted in service through the whole of the Second World War. The main landing gear legs retracted into the engine nacelles, and their struts and mountings formed an intricate assembly that is markedly visible on a model in a large scale.
The set contains photo-etched parts only. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
