The boxing is a reboxing of the plastic tooling by Revell and adds quality decals printed by Cartograf and painting masks. The large scale comes into its own on the characteristic fuselage with the engine mounted on the aircraft's spine.
The Heinkel He 162 was a German light jet fighter from the very end of the Second World War, known by the nicknames Volksjäger, meaning people's fighter, and Salamander. It was powered by a single BMW 003 jet engine mounted unusually above the fuselage behind the cockpit. Because of the shortage of strategic raw materials, a number of the airframe parts were made of wood. The aircraft came about in an extremely short time with the aim of quick mass production and deployment even by less experienced pilots, but it took part in the fighting only marginally.
Glue the plastic with a thin modeling cement and sand the joints carefully – in a large scale imperfections show more. The masks supplied make it easier to spray the divided canopy glazing cleanly. Apply a primer before painting; lay down the late German camouflage and markings with an airbrush. The Cartograf decals are thin and adhere well, so apply them over a gloss base with a softener. Final washes and fine pigments give the surface a realistic depth.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
