HäT 1:32 Italian Allies is a set of sixteen figures of the Italian allies of the Punic Wars.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of plastic figures in 1:32 scale from HäT. The box holds sixteen figures of Italian allied contingents. The plastic is unpainted. The manufacturer lists the set as usable for both sides of the Punic Wars, because the Italian tribes fought for Rome as well as for Carthage, so one box will serve in any formation of the period.
The Italian allies made up roughly half the strength of the Roman republican army. Towns and tribes bound by treaty supplied infantry and cavalry contingents, but their equipment differed little from the Roman, because the same military fashion spread across Italy. After Cannae some of the southern Italian communities went over to Hannibal, so the same contingents ended up on both sides of the conflict.
Wash the figures, dry them and spray them with a flexible primer. In the larger scale it pays to spend time on the shield: its device decides which side you assign the contingent to. Divide the metal parts into bronze and steel, as the difference shows well in 1:32. Give the tunics a muted white with a colored border and save the bright colors for the cloaks.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
