An injection-molded plastic kit of the Mitsubishi J2M3 Raiden Jack Type 21 in 1:32 scale from Hasegawa: the Japanese naval interceptor in a large scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A large injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese interceptor Mitsubishi J2M3 Raiden (Allied reporting name Jack) in 1:32 scale from Hasegawa. The newly shaped tooling offers finely engraved panel lines, a richly detailed cockpit, a detailed engine, two styles of propeller and a pilot figure. The thin, undistorted glazing allows the canopy to be built open or closed. Check the exact package contents against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The J2M Raiden was designed by Jiro Horikoshi, the designer of the famous A6M Zero fighter. Unlike the Zero, the Raiden was conceived as a fast interceptor with the emphasis on rate of climb and speed, intended to destroy American B-29 bombers. The J2M3 Type 21 version was powered by a potent radial engine and carried four 20 mm cannon in the wings. It served with units of the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service in the closing stages of the war.
In the large 1:32 scale the detail of the engine and the cockpit stands out, so paint and pick them out before closing the fuselage. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and the glazing with canopy glue. Japanese naval fighters typically wore a dark green upper surface with a light underside; after the gloss coat and the decals, pick out the panel lines with a wash and add service wear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
