A set of unpainted figures of the Prussian Landwehr of the Napoleonic Wars in 1:32 scale, in a marching pose. The large scale gives the figure room for painting work that cannot be managed in 1:72: graded shadows, picked-out eyes and the small details of the equipment. The figures are in soft plastic, on which ordinary cement for polystyrene will not hold and neither will paint without preparation.
The Landwehr was raised in Prussia in 1813 as an answer to the defeat by Napoleon, because the regular army was not allowed to exceed a permitted number of men. These were units raised from called-up civilians, equipped simply and without uniformity: a plain coat, a cap with a cross and whatever equipment could be found. It is precisely that lack of uniformity that gives the modeler a freedom in painting that he does not have with line infantry.
Wash the figures first in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry completely. Then apply a primer intended for soft plastics, otherwise the paint will crack once it dries. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. In the large scale it pays to build the paint up in layers and to add the small items such as buttons and buckles.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
