This extensive set from the Reskit brand brings together four assemblies that are the hardest to build on the large Bronco: a well-equipped pilot's station, the landing gear legs, the wheel bays and weighted wheels with tire flattening. It is the detailed edition, that is, the version with the panels and consoles rendered in relief.
The letter D denotes the night observation version of the Bronco. The aircraft was given a lengthened nose with a rotating sensor turret for observation in the dark, more powerful engines and longer propellers; with it the US Marine Corps searched for targets after dark and directed attack aircraft onto them. The shape of the nose and of the wheel bays therefore differs from the early versions, and the set respects precisely this form.
First the fit of the tub is tested dry, and only then does the glue come into play. It is sensible to finish and paint the wheel bays before the halves of the nacelles are joined, because afterward they are hard to reach. The weighted wheels are fitted at the very end so that the tire flattening sits flat on the plane of the base.
The basic injection-molded kit is not included; the set only complements it.
