An injection-molded plastic model of the French single-seat fighter biplane SPAD VII c.1 in 1:32 scale from the Roden brand. The kit contains a cockpit worked out in detail and the Hispano-Suiza V8 engine, separately shaped control surfaces and a finely engraved surface. As with every biplane, the build includes bracing wires between the wings and the struts.
The SPAD VII was one of the first truly fast and robust French fighters of the First World War. Unlike the light rotary-engined biplanes it put its money on the powerful water-cooled Hispano-Suiza V8, which gave it high speed and strength in a dive. A number of French aces flew it and the type spread to other Allied air services as well.
On a biplane, assemble and paint the cockpit and the engine before you close the fuselage up - after gluing, these places are harder to reach. Clean the fine struts and braces carefully. Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic, then fill and sand the seams. Apply a primer before painting and spray the paints with an airbrush in thin coats. Deal with the bracing wires only after painting, using rigging thread.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
