A set of unpainted figures of Spanish cavalry and command figures in 1:32 scale. The large scale gives the figure room for painting work that cannot be managed in 1:72: graded shadows, picked-out eyes and the patterns on the shields and the saddle cloths. The figures are in soft plastic, on which ordinary cement for polystyrene will not hold and neither will paint without preparation. That is not a fault but a property of the material.
The set belongs to the line devoted to the Punic Wars, in which the Spanish fought as allies and as opponents of both great powers. The Iberian cavalry was reckoned excellent: the riders were nimble, handled their horses well and often dismounted to fight on foot. Carthage built a substantial part of its cavalry on their skills, and after losing its Spanish resources its army never fully recovered.
Wash the figures first in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry completely. Then apply a primer intended for soft plastics. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Paint the rider separately and seat him on the horse only at the end. In the large scale it pays to add the patterns on the shields and the cloth.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
