A plastic kit of the Soviet, and later Russian, BMD-2 airborne infantry fighting vehicle in 1:35 scale from Zvezda. The model captures the low tracked hull and the characteristic turret of the vehicle and offers a crisply molded surface with good detail. According to the packaging, anti-tank guided missiles are included as well. A rewarding subject for a collection of modern airborne equipment.
The BMD-2 is a light airborne infantry fighting vehicle introduced in the middle of the 1980s as a development of the older BMD-1 with a new turret. The abbreviation BMD denotes an airborne combat vehicle. The vehicle is light enough to be dropped by parachute and serves to carry and support an airborne squad; the main armament is an autocannon supplemented by anti-tank guided missiles.
Build the running gear and the turret first, then set them on the hull. Use a liquid cement on the plastic, treat the surface with a primer and apply the colors with an airbrush. A single-color camouflage finish comes alive with color modulation, a wash into the recesses and pigments for dust effects on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
