What the set is intended for

A set of small arms of the British infantry of the Second World War period in 1:35 scale. Weapons are usually the weakest point on figures: they are molded in one piece with the hands, their shapes are simplified and they lack sharp edges. A separate set is therefore a welcome replacement. It also finds a use where there is no figure at all, because a weapon leaning against a wall, laid on a truck bed or stacked in a rack tells a story of its own in a scene.

The real subject

In the Second World War the British infantry built on a bolt-action rifle, a light machine gun as the mainstay of the section and a simple submachine gun, with hand grenades and anti-tank means alongside them. It is precisely the variety of one section's weapons that is the reason sets of this kind are made: several different pieces come together in one scene and each needs a different shape. What exactly the package contains and in what quantity is given on the packaging and in the manufacturer's instructions.

Building and painting tips

• separate the small parts with a sharp blade; nippers break them easily
• paint the weapons separately and attach them to the figure only at the end
• build the metal parts over a dark base and the wooden stocks over a brown one
• a light dry brush on the edges gives a weapon the sharpness it otherwise loses in this scale
• wash and degrease the parts before painting
