An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet BZ-38 airfield tanker truck in 1:35 scale from MiniArt. It is a faithful model of the refueling truck that served in the Second World War to refuel aircraft. Besides the plastic parts, the box contains photo-etched sheet and decals; the exact extent of the contents differs between individual boxings.
The BZ-38 was a Soviet aircraft refueling truck built on a three-axle cargo chassis derived from the GAZ type series. It carried a large tank with pumping and distribution equipment and was the basic means of refueling fighters and reconnaissance aircraft at the field airfields of the Red Army. The vehicle was relatively light and very widely used in service throughout the war.
Work with thin plastic cement and test-fit the frame and the tank before gluing. An airbrush and a good primer coat are the answer. Finish and paint the chassis and the suspension before the body is closed up. For a realistic look, washes and pigments for the dust and mud dirt typical of field service work well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
