This plastic set of figures in 1:35 scale from MiniArt captures a civilian scene of sellers of calvados, the traditional apple brandy of French Normandy. The box holds two plastic figures, a two-wheeled cart and crates with bottles; clear parts for the bottles are usually included as well. The set is meant to bring life to dioramas and scenes from Western Europe in the Second World War as well as to civilian settings.
Calvados is the celebrated apple brandy of Normandy, bound up with the image of country market traders and of everyday life in Normandy during and after the war. A pair of sellers with a loaded cart and crates of bottles gives a diorama a civilian context and a human dimension alongside the military equipment.
Clean the small parts of sprue stubs and glue them with liquid cement for plastic; glue the clear bottle parts in a way that avoids fogging. For convincing clothing and skin a base color, shading and a dry brush work well, and for the bottles a gloss varnish for the impression of glass. The figures show to best effect in a civilian street or market scene.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
