An injection-molded plastic kit of the Italian heavy tank Carro Armato P40 (P26/40) in 1:35 scale from Italeri. The boxing is enriched with a metal gun barrel and photo-etch, and the decals come from a renowned printing house. It is a build of medium difficulty, suitable for more advanced beginners and for admirers of Italian armor. The lower part of the hull is made up of panels. The Carro Armato P26/40 was the heaviest tank that Italian industry managed to bring into production during the Second World War. It weighed around 26 tons and, compared with the older Italian types, it brought more modern features: sloped frontal armor plates, a more powerful diesel engine of around 420 hp and a more effective main armament, a 75 mm gun. At the same time it kept some outdated features of Italian production of the day, such as riveted joints in the armor and leaf-spring suspension for the running gear. It saw only limited combat use.
Assemble the panel-built lower hull carefully and check the right angles, so that the running gear seats properly. Paint the running gear before the hull is finished. Degrease the metal barrel before gluing and if necessary roughen it for better paint adhesion. Apply a primer and the paints with an airbrush and lay the decals over a gloss coat. Sand and brown tones suit the Italian scheme; finish the weathering with a wash and pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
