The landing gear of the CH-54A Tarhe helicopter in the in-flight position, wheels included, a resin set in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This landing gear set with wheels from the brand Reskit is intended for the large model of the CH-54A heavy crane helicopter. It captures the legs in the position they take in the air, with the shock struts fully extended and the tires not loaded by the weight of the machine. The manufacturer also makes a separate variant of the wheels compressed for a machine on the ground, so the builder can choose according to the scene he has in mind.
The Sikorsky S-64, listed in the army as the CH-54 Tarhe, was built around a bare beam with no cargo compartment. Tall, widely splayed legs allowed it to drive over a load and lift it directly from below. In Vietnam the machines pulled shot-down equipment out of the jungle, carried artillery and dropped heavy bombs intended to blast a landing area through the vegetation. The type took its name from a chief of the Wyandot tribe.
The legs of the helicopter bear the whole weight of the model during the build, so it pays to glue them only once things have dried and to level the mating surfaces beforehand. The polished surfaces of the shock struts come out well after a metallic shade is sprayed on and lightly polished. The tires gain depth from dry accentuation with a light dust pigment on the sidewalls.
The set covers the landing gear with wheels only; the helicopter itself has to be owned already.
