This accessory from the brand Royal Model rests on a resin box complemented by photo-etched metal and captures the more substantial version of an outdoor air conditioner with two fans side by side. It is used where one ordinary unit is not enough.
Twin outdoor units cool shops, offices, workshops and improvised command spaces, that is spaces with a real heat load. They are seen on flat roofs, on steel brackets above entrances or at sidewalk level behind a protective grille meant to guard them from copper thieves. In a scene they therefore suggest that behind the wall there is not an apartment but a working space, and that in itself changes how a whole scene reads. Modelers often underrate it: the size of the technical plant is one of the few pieces of information with which anything can be conveyed about the invisible inside of a building.
Bend the thin metal grilles over the sharp edge of a ruler, not between your fingers; otherwise waves appear that you will no longer straighten out. The box looks credible with slightly chipped paint, the print of a hose and a map of limescale. Leave a trace of rust under the anchor bolts.
The casting is supplied without paint; buy the chemicals needed for it separately.
