The second infantry set of the Spanish range, 28mm Spanish Napoleonic Wars Infantry 1808-1811 Set 2 - Firing Line (38 Figures), contains thirty-eight men in firing poses.
Responsibility details are not available.
This box from Perry Miniatures is aimed at a single moment of a fight: firing. Thirty-eight plastic infantrymen stand in poses at the shot, while loading and in preparation to fire, and a command group is enclosed with them. You will build line infantry, provincial militia, grenadiers and light infantry out of them, because the range of headdresses is wide.
After French troops entered the country and after the rising of 1808, the Spanish army found itself in a curious position: the old regiments carried on in uniforms from prewar stocks, while new units were raised from volunteers and militia and dressed in whatever was at hand. That is exactly why the set holds, alongside military shakos and grenadier fur caps, a knitted cap or a civilian hat as well. For the modeler that is an advantage, as a unit may look varied and still stay true to its period.
Firing poses come out well when you turn the figures slightly on their bases instead of standing them in a perfect row. Do the smoke staining around the muzzle of the barrel very sparingly, as a heavy coat looks artificial. Trousers and headdresses in differing colors will give the detachment the irregular look matching the supply situation of the time.
The infantrymen arrive unassembled; you will not find paints or glue in the box.
