About product

1:35 French helmet M15 (detail) — a Firma49 resin set

An add-on set of finely 3D-printed resin French helmets in 1:35 scale. It is not a model of equipment but an item of gear for figures and dioramas. The detail version has a well-worked crest and shell so that the helmet looks faithful even once painted.

The real subject

The French Adrian helmet of the 1915 pattern was the first modern steel combat helmet. You can recognize it by the characteristic comb running along the crown. It was worn by the French army from the First World War and through the interwar period, and in its day a number of other countries adopted it as well.

Building and painting tips

Before separating the parts from the tabs and before sanding, dip them in hot water so that the resin softens and does not chip; it hardens again once cooled. Wash the castings, cut the casting blocks away with a sharp tool, bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and sand with respiratory protection. Paint them with ordinary modeling paints; a fine wash brings out the comb and the rim of the helmet.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of figures and dioramas in 1:35 scale
  • Scenes from the First World War and the interwar period
  • Modelers who want to replace less successful helmets on figures
  • Collectors of details for French and Allied soldiers

The set contains resin helmet castings only. Figures, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
