1:35 German 17cm K Gr.39 Ammo

Ammunition for the German gun of 17 cm caliber, 1:35

An add-on set of ammunition for the German heavy artillery gun of 17 cm caliber, in 1:35 scale. It is not a model of the weapon but an accessory for a scene. Heavy artillery shells were so large that they were handled with a small crane and stored in crates and baskets, so on a diorama they give a firing position exactly what it otherwise lacks.

What it is for

• Bringing a heavy artillery firing position to life.
• Stowage on the bed of a vehicle or on a supply trailer.
• A scene with a crew carrying or loading a shell.
• A source of ammunition for other artillery dioramas.

Building and painting tips

Cut the shells off the sprue one at a time and sand the parting line carefully, because it shows at once on a cylindrical surface. Paint the driving band on the body of the shell differently, in a copper or brass shade, because it is exactly that difference that turns a gray cylinder into ammunition. A dark wash and a light metal rub on the edges work well on a metal surface. Do the crates and baskets in weathered wood with wear on the corners.

Who the set is for

• Builders of artillery dioramas in 1:35 scale.
• Modelers who build German vehicles of the Second World War.
• Anyone whose scene is missing stowage and small items.

The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
