The figure set 1:35 German infantry at work captures German infantrymen of the Second World War at ordinary field work, not in combat.
Responsibility details are not available.
These figures cast in resin by the Italian brand Royal Model are conceived in a more civilian key than a modeler is used to with military figures. Nobody here is aiming or running. The soldiers lean on their tools, bend over work in progress and have their equipment loosened, as tends to happen during hard labor. It is exactly this relaxed quality that is hardest to get on figures, and the casting solves it for you.
Infantry spent the overwhelming majority of their time with a shovel, not a rifle. Positions were dug, shelters built, field tracks repaired, the banks of fords reinforced and lean-tos put up for vehicles. For work like that the belts came off, the sleeves were rolled up and a mixture of the regulation uniform and whatever was at hand was worn. A scene with a working unit therefore looks credible even without a single backdrop suggesting a shot being fired.
Leave the castings in warm water for a while if a slight bend needs straightening. Clean up the mold seams with a scraper drawn along the direction of the folds of the cloth, so that the texture of the fabric does not disappear. Paint the faces from the darkest tone toward the light and leave the skin rather less saturated, while darkening the uniform in the folds. Dusty boots and knees will give the scene its connection with the terrain.
The figures arrive unpainted and divided into individual castings.
