A captured French chassis with a German gun is refined by 1:35 German Pz.Jager 7.5 cm - Part 1.
Responsibility details are not available.
A detailed refinement of a plastic model of the German tank destroyer armed with the 7.5 cm PaK 40 gun on the chassis of the captured French Hotchkiss 39(H) light tank. The metal set mainly replaces the plates of the shield and the superstructure, where the difference against a molded part shows up most. It is marked as the first part.
After the defeat of France in 1940 the Germans were left with hundreds of Hotchkiss light tanks, hopelessly weak for fighting tanks but with a working chassis. Workshops operating in occupied France under Alfred Becker took the turret off them, built a square open superstructure onto the hull and set an anti-tank gun into it. The result was an improvised but practically usable weapon of the kind that appeared with the units holding the French coast and later fought in Normandy as well. Versions with a field howitzer were created on the same chassis in a similar way.
Glue the thin shields of the superstructure on only once the hull is assembled, and check their angle against the drawing. Captured equipment was often repaired in the field with mismatched parts, so a slightly different shade or a patch looks natural on a model. Paint and dust the running gear with its wheels before the superstructure covers it.
Everything else, from the kit to the thinner, is obtained separately.
