This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from MiniArt brings three subjects together in one package: the captured Soviet T-60 light tank in German use, a 7.5 cm anti-tank gun in the travel position and crew figures. The letter r after the type designation is the period German abbreviation for equipment of Soviet origin taken into German service. A tractor with a gun in tow is a rewarding subject for a small scene: the individual elements hold together even without further scenery.
The T-60 was a Soviet light tank from the early 1940s: a crew of two, a 20 mm automatic cannon, thin armor and a simple design built largely from automotive assemblies. It was precisely that simplicity and undemanding operation that made it a usable machine away from direct combat too, typically in the role of a tractor and a carrier of equipment. The towed 7.5 cm PaK 40 anti-tank gun was among the most widespread weapons of its category, and in the travel position it was moved with the barrel secured to the rear, hitched behind a light tractor.
Start with the running gear and the inside of the hull: finish and paint everything that will be inaccessible once it is closed up. MiniArt parts tend to be thin and small, so it pays to separate them with a sharp scalpel or a file and not to hurry. Build the gun as a separate assembly and attach it to the vehicle at the very end; both are easier to paint that way. For the patina use a dark wash in the recesses and pigments for dust and mud; soil the running gear and the lower hull the most and leave the barrel only lightly dusted. Paint the figures separately and fit them as the last step.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
