A two-part composition that works as a finished small scene: a figure looking out of a hatch and the matching piece of superstructure to go with it. It is exactly this combination that solves the usual problem of figures for hatches, namely that without the surrounding metal they have nowhere to sit. The material is resin, as is customary with this Italian manufacturer.
The first production series of the heavy tank carried a cylindrical cupola with vision slits around its circumference, which modelers call the drum type. From roughly the middle of 1943 it was replaced by a cast cupola with periscopes and a ring for an antiaircraft machine gun. Depending on which of them a machine has, it can be placed in a particular period of service, and this accessory aims at the earlier form.
The crews received reversible padded outfits, white on one side and in a gray or mottled finish on the other. They were worn over the ordinary uniform, so the figure looks bulkier and the folds are softer. When painting, let the white get dirty, because nobody on a tank in action had a freshly laundered look.
Once the figure is glued in, fill the cupola where it meets the model and sand the transition down. A gap between resin and plastic is more noticeable after the primer is sprayed on than it seems during the build.
