About product

German Tropical Pith Helmet 1:35 (Firma49)

This is a detail accessory on its own, not a model or a figure. The set from Firma49 holds a resin German tropical pith helmet, printed with 3D technology in 1:35 scale. It serves to bring figures and dioramas set in North Africa and the tropics to life.

The real subject

The subject is the German tropical pith helmet worn by German soldiers in tropical regions in the Second World War, typically in North Africa. It was light and protected the head from the sun.

Tips for working and painting

Before separating the resin parts from the supports, warm them briefly in hot water or with a hairdryer, so that the material does not shatter. Wash any mold release agent off them and bond them with super glue. The cork surface and the metal badge come to life with a base color, a filter and gentle dry brushing.

Who the set is for

  • builders of dioramas set in North Africa and the tropics
  • modelers filling out figures or a scene with period detail
  • more experienced builders working with resin

It is supplied as unpainted resin parts. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
