This set from the Royal Model brand combines resin castings with photo-etched metal and brings the technical fittings you find today on the facade and inside an ordinary residential building. It complements contemporary urban scenes for which the building alone is not enough. It is only these small things that turn it into a house someone lives in.
The resin parts are washed free of release agent, cut away from the casting blocks and joined with cyanoacrylate. The photo-etched elements are bent along the grooves and will take finer detail than can be cast. Both need a primer before painting: resin for adhesion, metal against rubbing through. If you spray both groups of parts in one session, the surface is unified and the difference in materials stops showing in the result.
It stands out most on the display side of a building, where a convincing cluster of equipment can be put together. It pays to work with height. What is above the windows gives away the size of the building, and what is at ground level draws the eye to the figures. Aging with rust and traces of running water will give even new parts a suitable age. On the render beneath the individual items it is then worth suggesting a lighter outline, the kind left behind by a box or a bracket that has not been taken down for a long time.
The parts are supplied unassembled and unpainted, and the manufacturer does not enclose chemicals with them.
