A photo-etched set of armor shields for a model of the Israeli Merkava Mk.IIID tank in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Merkava is an Israeli main battle tank, and the designation gives the Mk.IIID version. The whole family is recognized by the layout in which the powerplant is at the front and the crew behind it; the forward section thus forms an extra layer of protection. On the vehicles of this family the number of add-on armor features is striking, features that were added and changed over the course of service, and it is precisely those that give a model its characteristic outline.
These are photo-etched armor shields in 1:35 scale, that is flat parts of thin metal sheet intended to replace or complete the plastic parts of a model. Photo-etch can convey a thickness that injection-molded plastic will not come close to, so the edges stay thin and the shape sharp. The manufacturer's instructions give the scope of the fret and the assignment of the individual parts; follow them also in choosing the order, because some features are fitted earlier than the surrounding build.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a firm surface, not by twisting, or the sheet will buckle. Make the bends exactly along the marked score line and press them down with a straight edge. Metal is glued with super glue; cement for polystyrene does not hold on it. Degrease the surfaces before painting and use a primer, or the paint will hold badly on smooth metal.
A set of photo-etched parts is supplied. The tank model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
