An Israeli woman tanker 1:35 from the Royal Model brand is a single figure cast in resin, captured in a relaxed moment off duty.
Responsibility details are not available.
The casting shows a young woman soldier of the Israeli armored forces in overalls, taking a short break. The manufacturer named it after a small scene, a call from her boyfriend, and it is exactly this everyday motif that makes the figure rewarding: among vehicles it comes across as human and reveals at once that the scene is not a battle but a rear area.
The Israeli army has conscripted women since it came into being, but for a long time they reached the armored forces mainly as instructors. It was they who taught incoming crews gunnery, driving and maintenance, so tankers serving in the field had training led by women behind them. Women worked their way into the fighting crews of tanks themselves only in recent years, and at first within trial units. The overalls, the boots and the ear muffs that belonged to their everyday appearance meanwhile changed little over the decades.
The overalls tempt a modeler into a single beige paint, but the result then looks flat. Lay them in rather with a sandy tone, put a warm brownish wash into the folds and pull the raised areas out with a lighter shade with a drop of gray in it. Treat the skin in warmer tones than on European figures, and the hair dark with a hint of sheen. Let the small accessories stand out in color, because it is exactly they that set the figure apart from the background.
