This two-figure set from the Italian brand Royal Model captures an officer and a crewman of armored equipment. The polyurethane resin castings hold the crisp transitions of cloth, belts and equipment that transfer into injection-molded plastic only with difficulty. A base and a vehicle are not included in the package.
The Italian armored units deployed the M13/40 and M14/41 medium tanks and the Semovente series of self-propelled guns during the war, in North Africa, in the Balkans and on the Eastern Front. The crews differed from the other arms at first glance: they wore the characteristic padded leather helmet and looser overalls, whereas an officer is told by his headgear and the rank badges on his collar. It is exactly the contrast of two differently clothed figures that gives a scene its action.
First wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent, so that no layer of release agent from the mold is left on the surface. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand the surfaces, ideally with your airways protected. Cyanoacrylate glue holds the joints, and a primer belongs under the paint. Oils or acrylics build the skin and the uniform up in layers; the stitching and the buttons stand out from a dark unifying coat and a dry brush.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted, without glue and paints.
