The crews of Italian armored vehicles are represented by a figure of an Italian tanker, 1:35 scale, from the range of the brand Royal Model. Suitable for scenes from North Africa and for display on its own.
Responsibility details are not available.
Germans and Allies predominate among figures, so an Italian crew is a welcome change and at the same time a logical complement to kits of armored vehicles from southern European production. Royal Model, an Italian brand itself, devotes itself to this circle of subjects consistently; this item represents a rank-and-file member of a tank crew from the time of the Second World War.
Italian tank units deployed above all the M series medium tanks, light vehicles and Semovente self-propelled guns during the war. The crews worked in cramped space, in the heat of the desert campaign and without any comfort, which was reflected in their kit: overalls or a light blouse, a leather helmet to cushion knocks against the interior fittings, goggles against dust. The coloring varied between sand, khaki and gray-green according to the year and the battlefield, and that is exactly what gives a modeler freedom in choosing a scheme.
The leather of the helmet and the jackets will take warm brown tones with a fine sheen, while the textile should be left completely matte. The dust of the North African campaign can be suggested with a light overspray or with pigment settled in the folds; just watch the degree, so that the whole figure does not turn gray. It pays to keep the face noticeably darker and more tanned than on subjects from Europe, because the desert sun spared nobody.
The item is without a finish and unassembled; paints and glue are not enclosed.
