An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet KV-1 heavy tank in 1:35 scale from Zvezda. The model captures the massive armored machine from the beginning of the Great Patriotic War with its characteristic angular turret and thick frontal armor. The package contains the parts for building the hull, the turret and the running gear; the exact sub-variant and the marking scheme are not stated here.
At the beginning of the German attack on the Soviet Union the KV-1 was one of the best-armored tanks in the world. Its thick armor was able to resist most anti-tank weapons of the time and the machine became an unpleasant surprise for the attacking units. It was armed with a 76 mm gun and powered by a diesel engine. For all its defensive strength the KV-1 suffered from great weight, a demanding gearbox to operate and limited mobility.
Assemble and paint the running gear first, and only then close the hull up. Glue the parts with a thin cement for plastic. Soviet tanks as a rule carried a uniform green camouflage - after the base shade and a varnish, pick out the rivets and the detail with a dark wash and add pronounced mud and dust effects with pigments on the tracks and the lower hull.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
