A kit of an experimental Soviet heavy tank that came about as an attempt to move the existing type up a level. The chassis was lengthened to seven road wheels on each side, the armor was thickened, a new turret went onto the hull and a gun of larger caliber into it. So that the vehicle could pull all that along, it received a supercharged engine of higher output. For the modeler this is a subject with the peculiar charm of vehicles of which only a single example was built: the silhouette cannot be mistaken for anything else and at the same time hardly anyone recognizes it. The nickname in the name is one used by modelers, not a period designation.
The vehicle came about in 1941 and it stayed at a single prototype, because the outbreak of the war rewrote the production plans. According to the available data it had frontal armor around a hundred millimeters thick, a new turret and a gun of 85 millimeters caliber, that is a weapon that no production vehicle on either side of the front had at the time. The vehicle was put into action in the defense of Leningrad, where whatever was at hand was used.
Finish and varnish the running gear before you close the hull up. Seven wheels a side mean the same work fourteen times over, so think the procedure through on the first one. Try the tracks dry on the wheels and tension them only once they have dried. The set also contains photo-etched parts, which you glue with super glue. After varnishing, weather the model with a wash and pigments, concentrating on the running gear and the wheel wells.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
