The Leopard 1 A5 is a plastic kit of the German Cold War main battle tank in 1:35 scale from Meng, in the A5 version with an updated fire control system.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit from Meng depicts the German main battle tank Leopard 1 in the A5 version in 1:35 scale. The kit offers a newly detailed turret with a faithfully rendered canvas mantlet cover, photo-etched covers for the driver periscopes and photo-etched add-on turret armor. Newly shaped road wheels with working suspension and easy-to-build workable double-pin tracks that assemble without glue are included.
The Leopard 1 A5 was the final production update of the Leopard 1 family, which West Germany took into service in 1987. The aim was to keep pace with the Soviet tanks of the day; the A5 version was given a modern fire control system and further turret changes. The main weapon remained the proven 105 mm L7 gun. The Leopard 1 was among the most widespread Western tanks of the Cold War, and the A5 was exported to other armies as well.
Assemble and paint the running gear and the internal detail before you close the hull; once glued they are harder to reach. Prepare and paint the workable double-pin tracks separately. A dark wash suits the complex surface and the engraving and will bring out the rivets, the hatches and the plate joints; mud and dust effects are completed with pigments on the lower hull, the running gear and the fenders. An airbrush is ideal for the period German camouflage scheme (green, brown, black); use thin modeling cement on the plastic and bond the photo-etched parts with super glue.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
