An injection-molded plastic (styrene) detail set from the Japanese maker Asuka (formerly Tasca) in 1:35 scale. It contains the complete Vertical Volute Spring Suspension (VVSS) for models of the M4 Sherman tank. The set tends to come with various types of road wheels and idler wheels, drive sprockets and skids; with polycaps the running gear is partly movable. It is not a model of the tank, but a running gear set on its own to swap for the parts of a base kit.
The VVSS system fundamentally determines the look of a Sherman's running gear. The quality Asuka castings offer sharp detail on the bogies, the springs and the skids, thanks to which the running gear can be brought to a high level and, if wanted, left partly working.
The parts are injection-molded plastic, so they are attached with ordinary cement for plastic. Before closing it up, watch the correct orientation of the road wheel arms according to the particular Sherman variant. The running gear is a rewarding subject for mud and dust effects, washes and pigments.
The set is an accessory, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
