An injection-molded plastic kit of the American M4A3E8 Sherman medium tank in 1:35 scale from Italeri. The kit captures the late Sherman variant with wide tracks and the new suspension and contains plastic parts, flexible tracks and decals for a choice of several markings. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The M4A3E8 Sherman, nicknamed the Easy Eight, was the peak of development of the famous American medium tank in the Second World War. What set it apart from the older versions above all was the horizontal volute spring suspension (HVSS) with wide tracks, which improved the ride, the comfort of the crew and the speed across country. The 76 mm gun with its high muzzle velocity gave the Sherman a considerably better chance against more heavily armored German tanks than the earlier 75 mm gun. The Easy Eight served at the end of the war in Europe and proved itself again a few years later in the Korean War.
On armored vehicles, assemble and if necessary paint the running gear before you close up the hull, because the wheels and the tracks are then far easier to do. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and seat the flexible tracks carefully around the rollers. Lay the base olive coat (typically Olive Drab) on over primer with an airbrush and break it up by layering shades. Build the weathering up gradually: washes in the hollows and around the rivets, filters to unify the surface, pigments and mud effects on the lower hull and the running gear. Drybrushing will bring out the edges and the worn metal.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
