An injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary American light military vehicle (the Willys MB type) in 1:35 scale from Meng. The kit is very finely done - it contains a completely broken-down engine, a well worked-out chassis with axles, a fully equipped cab interior with upholstered seats, the fuel tank under the seat and the instrument panel. Pintle-mounted machine guns are in the box as well. Check the exact contents of the box and the decals against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Willys MB, officially the quarter-ton 4x4 truck, became one of the best known vehicles of the Second World War. Over half a million were built in a single standardized form and it served American and Allied units on every front - as a reconnaissance, liaison, ambulance and towing vehicle. It was powered by a four-cylinder engine and its simple, durable design became the model for postwar off-road vehicles.
The build usually starts with the engine and the chassis - it pays to paint and pick them out carefully, because on an open vehicle a great deal is visible. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic. Detail the interior and the instrument panel before closing up. After spraying the olive color and the varnish, pick out the details with a wash and add dust, mud and rubbing on the edges; an open vehicle will take a little personal equipment to bring it to life.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
