A replacement set of wheels for a model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109G, in the type 2 finish with the tire bulging under the weight of the machine.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109 in the G version, known among modelers under the nickname Gustav, was the most numerously produced variant of the German fighter aircraft of the Second World War. Its landing gear retracted into the wing and in the retracted position part of the wheel stayed in view, so the tire is conspicuous on a model from every side. A machine standing on the ground moreover has the tire visibly settled against the surface, and it is exactly this detail that sets a model into reality.
The set brings replacement wheels in the finish designated type 2, that is one of the variants from the manufacturer's range; how it differs from the others is described by the manufacturer in the instructions. The tires are made with a bulge under the weight of the machine, as the name states.
Fit the wheel so that the flattened contact patch created by the bulge points down toward the surface and the axle stays horizontal; a load turned the wrong way is seen at once on a finished model. Do the dry fit on a flat board. Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down, and wash and degrease the parts before painting. A matte shade suits the tire and the color of the machine suits the hub; both are painted separately while the parts are still loose.
This is an accessory set for building a model. Paints and glue are not part of the delivery unless stated otherwise.
