The real subject

The MH-60S Knighthawk is a shipborne helicopter of the US Navy. It differs from its patrol siblings in that it comes from the fuselage of the land-based Black Hawk: it has a roomy cargo cabin with wide sliding doors on both sides, while it inherited the power and rotor system from the shipborne Seahawk line. Thanks to that it carries cargo, soldiers and equipment, and in the Navy it handles work from the replenishment of ships in flight through rescue flights to the support of landing forces. The crew compartment is modern and the main part of its equipment consists of multifunction displays.

Colored interior pieces made by 3D printing, in 1:35 scale and in a form for the kit from the Kitty Hawk company. The pieces have a raised relief, so the panels and the instrument panels do not look like a flat print, and the colors are printed on.

How to work with the elements

The pieces of the QD series are carried on decal paper and have no adhesive layer of their own. Cut the piece out, dip it in lukewarm water for about 15 seconds and slide it off the paper into place. The surface has to be clean and gone over with gloss varnish (Future, Klear, Tamiya X-22), otherwise the piece will not take hold; in an intricate spot a drop of super glue helps. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as the chemicals attack the printed resin. Work with tweezers. Finish the interior before you close the fuselage and fit the glazing of the cabin.
