Cans of the kind that current American armored vehicles carry in the baskets on the turret. The 1:35 Modern jerrycans U.S. Tanks set from Royal Model fills out the crew equipment of a finished model.
Responsibility details are not available.
Current American armored vehicles carry cans in the baskets behind the turret and on the sides of the hull. This set offers them in 1:35 scale as equipment that the modeler adds to a finished machine; the armored vehicle itself is not included in the package.
On a tank with a gas turbine a couple of containers would not save the fuel situation, and yet the crews still carry them. The reason is a different one: the five-gallon cans serve mainly for water. In the desert water is used up faster than anything else: it is drunk, it is washed in and heads are cooled with it, so the containers hang in the baskets on the turret rear, on the fenders and by the equipment boxes, lashed with straps and chains. Alongside them go oil, fluids for the auxiliary power unit and tools. There is a difference in shape against the 1940s too: modern American containers tend to be plastic and have a different cross-section and a different closure from their steel predecessor.
The strongest impression comes about when the cans do not merge with the vehicle. Water containers tend to be lighter, often sand or green, fuel ones darker, and all of them carry stenciled lettering and quickly gathered dust. Suggest the lashing with a thin wire or a strip of foil; an unfastened container always looks untrue.
The accessories come without a finish; the package does not contain paints or fastening material.
